These Rocky boots are really comfortable - right out of the box. There's virtually no break in period whatsoever. We've got numerous accounts of folks going out and rucking with these boots within 1 to 3 days of putting them on for the first time. It's a given that the boots are light but many folks have mentioned how it's almost like they aren't wearing boots - it's more like they're almost not wearing anything at all. The soles flex real well and the overall design lends a much more athletic stance / ability than boots of the standard issue variety. The sole keeps you very low to the ground and has a very light, soft touch with the ground. Also, the nylon material definitely helps with breathability and probably with drainage as well. The greatest compliment I can give a boot is that once you put them on - you forget they are there and they get the job done - for most circumstances, this boot fits that bill.
The Rocky C4T is made is four colors: Sage Green for US Air Force personnel. Desert Tan for US Army soldiers. Olive Mojave for personnel wearing multicam in Afghanistan. Black for Law Enforcement officers and Public Safety.
The soles aren't as grippy as some others. The spacing and depth of the treads work fine on flat or soft surfaces. There's just not as much tread as you find on a Danner or Belleville - more of the lugs that really help you grip - especially on very rock terrain. You will find that the middle part of the sole comprised of the softer rubber will wear out faster than the front and the heel areas. Also, just like almost all the lightweights, you won't find tremendous ankle support from this boot. This is fine under most circumstances, but if you're constantly rucking and going up and down mountains, this could become an issue.
All in all, in the lightweight category, this is a great boot made more so when you consider the price. The Rocky C4T is easily one of the top two lightweight boots currently on the market.
